At the beginning of 2020, Samir took a leap (some may say ‘saw the light’) and moved his life from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to the way better beaches on the southern-end of the Gold Coast. A big move seeing as though he essentially knew nobody on the GC. So, imagine what was going through his head when, not more than a month later, COVID began to take hold.
But, the American-born singer-songwriter had survived his first solo move from the States to Sydney like a champ, so a thousand-odd kays up the East Coast (and a little old virus) was hardly going to have him shaking in his boardshorts.
After releasing his first EP and finding loads of regular haunts on the Northern Beaches local music scene, as well earning his spot on stage at Sydney’s Taste of Manly Festival and the Dee Why Beats & Eats Fest, it was never going to take long before Samir’s unique voice and acoustic surf-rock vibe found some appreciative ears on the Gold Coast.
Samir has a background in engineering, and is a being that thrives on human connection. Whether that’s achieved by way of playing and singing you a song (or many songs!), or by diving deep conversationally, he has an ability to leave his audience touched and connected on an emotional level. Samir has been engaged to provide the musical vibes at a number of Sydney, and now Gold Coast weddings; and naturally, the feedback has been glowing.
Musically, Samir sites influences including George Ezra, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Ed Sheeran and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. And Samir is passionate about making positive change, and positively influencing others, and he applies this passion – as well as a keen attention to detail – when entrusted to Soundtrack the most important day of your life to date; your wedding day.
