Although Lei-Ahna (rhymes with ‘banana’, ‘piranha’ or ‘Santana’) Newell spent the last 2 years as a fully-fledged Gold Coast-based Marriage Celebrant, as we all know Covid happened, so she’s still a relative newbie to the wedding industry. Lei is the first to admit she doesn’t really know how she wound up here. But, she also wholeheartedly loves it.
As a person, Lei-Ahna’s that friend who’s perpetually positive with purely optimistic blood bubbling through her veins. She’s ‘family-first’ and the last CV she created is very ‘fashion’ heavy. The past decade has seen her working as a ‘buyer’ for a Brisbane-based national fashion agency as well as a questionable stint where she decided it would be a good idea to open a brick and mortar boutique that stocked local start-ups (so, yeah, she’s not afraid of hard work or long hours… or stress!). While in the decade before the last, Lei-Ahna had her own Gold Coast ballet studio for a handful of years, before heading overseas to take up an incredible teaching opportunity in North America.
Today, Lei-Ahna has a young family, and a husband who’s been in the wedding industry for nearly a decade (hint: it’s Jake), so you probably don’t need Special Agent Dinozzo’s help piecing together how she wound up a celebrant.

Lei-Ahna’s style is a happy-without-the-spotlight one. A celebrant who steals your thunder she ain’t. Lei asks all the questions – the deep and the dorky – and she loves that part. She loves a love story, so she gets to know you proper, then crafts ceremony words that your family and friends will hang off. And that you’ll be absorbed in.
Lei firmly believes that your ceremony can – and should – be so much more than just the formal part of your wedding that your guests suffer through to earn their free drinks. Lei’s ceremonies are fun, inclusive, and tailored to you and your unique ‘vibe’ (sounds like a given, right? but believe us, it’s not). Also, we apologise in advance if all of your bridesmaids are vying to be Lei’s best friend by the end of your wedding ceremony. If it’s any consolation, they won’t be the only ones.
