Jake’s a true family-man. While music has been a life-long love – a bit of a gig-pig in his youth – his whole heart now firmly belongs to his wife and kids. He’s a down-on-the-floor kind of dad (and boss, for that matter) and he’s at his happiest when wrestling, snuggling, or playing music with his kids.
Musically, Jake’s armoury of implements and instruments has ebbed and flowed over the years. At times his solo set-up has included a big loop station, electronic drum pad, foot stomps and dual mics. But at his core is a lover of fluff-free, honest music. The feeling of anything being over-produced has never really sat comfortably, and so these days acoustic guitar rhythm is the bones of every arrangement, while his feet drive the unwavering beat by way of tambourine and bass/foot-stomp.
Jake has a unique vocal approach. At times it’s delicate – even fragile – and other times it’s all howling grit and power. Jake creates original-sounding covers from an awesome range of songs. There’s indie b-sides and classic ‘album’ tracks, plus pop hits, golden oldies, and triple j faves.
When it comes to being a ‘Wedding Singer’, Jake is arguably the most knowledgable and experienced musician on the Gold Coast Wedding scene. He’s played everywhere, and seen it all. As a soloist he’s unrivalled when it comes to managing your wedding day soundtrack, and knowing what to do and when. But you can even ‘power-up’ his expertise by having your other fave Janda Events artist by his side for your day.
Jake’s also the Gold Coast’s Freshest Wedding Celebrant – so you can put his wordsmithing skills to good use at your wedding ceremony, as well as enjoy Jake’s undeniably magnetic approach for your wedding soundtrack.
Not only do we have Jake at Janda, but we also proudly present Mattie, an exceptional acoustic singer. Explore the rich, soothing tones of Mattie’s acoustic renditions tailored specifically for wedding events.
